To integrate Czech, Polish and Hungarian cultures into the broader community while providing access to the rich heritage and history of these nations to Multnomah County residents. With our project we acknowledge the mission of the European Visegrad Group founded in 1991 with the idea of mutual support of Poland, former Czechoslovakia, and Hungary in the transition period from the totalitarian regime towards the democratic societies.
We believe that the educational process begins at the early ages. The Saturday Schools of Portland motivate and encourage kids to explore their origins, feel proud of their heritage and celebrate their home in Multnomah County. They are proud to take an active role in fostering stronger bilingual communities in the Portland metro area. This festival is an extension of our schools’ missions to educate, motivate and inspire Czech, Polish and Hungarian youth while establishing connections between our communities and neighbors.
